Freelance event based Bookseller / Retailer

About BHP Comics: We're a micro publisher of comics, graphic novels and comic art books, based in Glasgow, Scotland. We create a range of books, some YA, sci-fi, humour, comic art and socially aware non fiction.

We've spent most of 2018 making books, we're only doing a couple of shows the rest of this year, but looking for the right person to lead doing at least one show a month in 2019.

Could this be you?
We are looking for a dynamic and flexible person to lead on the sale of our books at events. Most events will be Comic Cons, based in the UK but some opportunities might arise abroad.

The right candidate/s will help front face promote BHP at events, managing event stock and build on our reputation for making a diverse range of graphic novels for new and existing readers.

You will have customer service/retail experience, a love of books and a willingness to work hard to promote the brand and values of BHP.

- reconciling sales at the end of the day (must be good with a calculator)
- lifting boxes of books (The stock comes in boxes, so ya know, that would be handy)
- creating engaging displays (Make our books look pretty)
- A valid passport

Desirable but not essential
- A valid driving licence
- Your own car (for some events it might be logistically easier for you to take content with you)
**Some larger events, or events far away, we'd ship stock via courier, and send you on trains, planes and automobiles.

The job may involve Plane and Train travel and overnight stays in hotels/air bnb accoms.

How to apply:
If you're interested, please apply with a supporting statement (short paragraph) telling us what you do now, and how this could fit around your everyday life. Plus a C.V.

Hourly rate £9.00 p/h plus commission
Closing date 13 Sep 5pm.
Short informal interviews Mon 17 Sep.

We are doing an event on 22/23 Sep in Glasgow, so if you're free for that, that would be an excellent trial to shortlisted candidates.
