BHP Comics To Publish KILLTOPIA

BHP Comics are pleased to announce that they will be publishing Kickstarter success story KILLTOPIA by Dave Cook and Craig Paton. KILLTOPIA, a neon cyberpunk fantasy set in dystopian Japan,  attracted nearly 900 backers on Kickstarter, reaching over four times their intended target.

Killtopia is a cyberpunk graphic novel series set in a mega-city in future Japan, where heavily-armed Wreckers hunt rogue mechs for money, fame and glory. Killtopia follows rookie Wrecker Shinji and Crash, the world's first sentient mech, as they are hunted as fugitives across the neon-soaked metropolis by Wreckers, android killers and Yakuza gangs. Shinji wants to save his sister. Crash wants to be more than a machine. They both want to make it out alive.

Killtopia brings together influences from Manga, Japanese gaming and western comics, making a bright, punchy cyberpunk with a very human story.

Dave Cook, KILLTOPIA's writer is thrilled with how the team has fallen into place: 'Killtopia is our first series as writer and artist, while the addition of letterer Rob Jones has made for something of a dream team. I think cyberpunk fans and comic readers in general are going to love what we’re making!'

KILLTOPIA'S artist, Craig Paton, is keen to reach a wider audience: 'What excited me most about joining BHP Comics is that, as well as allowing us to get our work out to a much bigger audience, it's very cool to be part of something promoting Scottish art and talent to the wider world. '

'We couldn’t be more excited to join the BHP family for many reasons; one of those being that they are a fellow Scottish outfit,'  Says Cook, 'It means a lot to us that we can take our first step as published creators and help fly the flag for Scotland’s ever-expanding comic industry.'

'Killtopia captures the  readers appitite for genre based sci-fi books and it immediately caught our attention,' says Sha Nazir, BHP Comics' Publisher, 'This is the first time BHP have acquired a book funded by Kickstater and we are really pleased to add to the books success by increasing its visibility through the book industry and excited to bring this new world to our readers in September.'
